Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection Investigation Unit launched an investigation following reports of the alleged exposure incident.

Mr Donoghue has since been suspended, according to the Department of Education.

“As the matter is now before the courts, the department cannot provide further comment,” a department spokesman said at the time.

Mr Donoghue’s case was briefly mentioned in court and adjourned to October 29, with a brief of evidence to be ordered at the next mention.

He remains on conditional bail.

The 50-year-old declined to comment on his case outside the courthouse, having spent hours inside before facing waiting reporters.

Seven News Gold Coast has previously reported the school’s principal had emailed parents after a video relating to the alleged incident surfaced online, assuring parents the safety and welfare of students was the highest priority.
