One of Australia’s top country music festival - back on the Gold Coast in less than a month - will include homegrown artist who says this year’s rendition means so much to her.
Groundwater Country Music Festival will take over Broadbeach from October 18-20 with a blockbuster line-up including Kasey Chambers, Adam Brand, Shannon Noll and Jim Lauderdale.
Gold Coast country music artist Emily Grace Taylor, 36, said she felt “privileged” to play it for the first time.
“Getting to watch country music live by the beach is such a unique experience. The fact that it’s free for everyone is amazing.”
Taylor said her passion for country music came while growing up on a Canungra cattle farm.
“That way of life and how country music spoke to me (really inspired me),” she said.
Last month, country music legend and six-time ARIA award winner Adam Brand said Groundwater was now classed one of the “big five” on the country music calendar.
Taylor added: “I do agree. The fact so many high calibre artists from all over the country and overseas come to play each year, have really established it to be as important for the country music scene in Australia.”
Taylor said preparing for the festival was a break after having her “head down recording” for most of 2024.
“Fans can expect some more music coming from me very soon,” she said.
Festival director Mark Duckworth said the festival featured 55 artists across 12 Broadbeach stages and venues.
“We love that feeling in October when the energy of country music takes over,” he said.
Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn said the free festival was a vital part of the events calendar.
“What’s not to love about kicking back beside the beach or at one of the precinct’s many cafes, restaurants or bars, listening to some of the biggest country stars in the country,” he said.
Acting Gold Coast Mayor Donna Gates plans “dusting off” her Akubra hat.
“Groundwater adds an eclectic mix to our city’s annual events calendar and reinforces that we are on the right track when it comes to securing the biggest, and best music festivals,” she said.
