Gold Coast
Don't miss out on the headlines from Gold Coast. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Last week this column said City’s most powerful boss Tim Baker was spotted on the streets as a parking inspector. Here’s the photographic proof.
At Gold Coast City, they call it “CEO on the frontline”. They say the boss genuinely likes his Superman moment, changing from coat and tie. He loved the compliance team.
“There’s nothing more arrogant than a CEO who sits in office and thinks he knows what’s going on inside his organisation. I really enjoy learning from frontline staff about the work they do for our community and the challenges they face. I’m always struck by their passion for the Gold Coast and their desires to enhance the Gold Coast way of life,” he says.
SOMETHING SMELLS
Disturbing report from a polling booth during the Federal election. A homeless woman approached a volunteer. After she left,a prominent political personality said: “The smell of the homeless around in this area is disgusting.”
‘UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS’
One of our councillors, on the outer recently with “upstairs” at the Mayoral Office, is about to be promoted “downstairs” in the chamber. It shows you can be rewarded for good behaviour. Expect an announcement soon.
ROOKIE WIN
Rookie councillor Josh Martin had an extraordinary win this week. A majority of colleagues supported him opposing the Burleigh concrete batching plant. His research and address not only got veteran colleague Peter Young to change his vote from an earlier committee meeting, but give him a rare and huge compliment in the chamber.
