One Gold Coast venue is saying goodbye to 2024, hello Regency era.

Ushering in days past, Mudgeeraba venue Bonappetea is inviting all ‘Lords and Ladies of the Gold Coast’ to join in for a special celebration of Regency charm.

Inspired by popular Netflix series Bridgerton, the August 17 high-tea – Pomp and Parlour High Tea – will offer esteemed folk the chance to partake in fashion, food and fun of the 1800s.

Organiser Georgina Stegman she wanted the broader community to experience something special.

“I happened to float the idea to a few people and they loved the idea of being able to dress up and fully immerse in the experience,” she said.

“We’ve already sold a third of the tickets – people are just loving the concept and idea of the parlour games, that kind of heightened experience. But the big sell is people want a chance to immerse themselves and dress up.”

The inaugural event is not designed as a one-off, Ms Stegman said, but something to be tailored for special occasions such as baby showers, or hens parties.

“There’s so much wonderful community support on the Gold Coast which is why I chose the Gold Coast coupled with the amazing Bonappetea that I just thought I couldn’t have picked a more perfect place for the launch,” she said.

“The plan will be to add sessions by popular demand, and then to potentially take this on the road through south-east Queensland at other venues.”

The Regency rendezvous includes high-tea, parlour games, trivia, best costume prizes, a roving tea-leaf reader and yes dearest gentle reader – of course, a touch of gossip.
