Brandon Baresic is used to having titles.

In fact the 23-year-old claimed the WBC national welterweight Muay Thai championship in Melbourne earlier this year.

But it is his newest title that is giving Mr Baresic quite the “kick” – business owner – with the opening of his new gym, Fight Society.

“This is Muay Thai and fighting has been my life so I thought if I’m going to open a business, I’d go invest into a business that I love, have passion for work,” Mr Baresic said when asked about his motivation to open the gym.

“I’ve been fighting for nearly 10 years now ... I started when I was younger just to learn self defence because I was bullied at school and bit overweight,” he said.

Mr Baresic said his parents had been incredibly supportive through the process of renovating and opening the gym in Nerang.

“I’ve got heap for support from my parents, my mum is very business minded, she helps me a lot and dad is good with the handiwork so I’ve got heaps of help, which makes it a lot easier on me.

“We’ve pretty much redone the whole warehouse, painted it all, all the gear that has gone in, the mats, the bag, the ring.

“We’ve even done like an upstairs area, heaps of hard work that’s gone into it,” he said

Mr Baresic said the gym will offer a range of classes throughout the week as well as personal training sessions.

Fight Society will officially open on Saturday, September 7, starting at 9am at the gym on Jay Gee Court.
