A man has allegedly been bashed and had his phone stolen during a violent early morning robbery at Southport.
The 51-year-old victim was allegedly attacked by another man at about 2.20am on Wednesday, June 18 along Nerang St before his mobile phone was taken and the offender ran off.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the victim was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where he required treatment for facial injuries.
Attending officers conducted patrols of the area and arrested a suspect at a nearby tram stop.
A 23-year-old man from Mermaid Beach has been charged with one count of robbery with violence, and is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on July 24.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
