18-year-old man arrested after claims at Burleigh Heads McDonald’s

An 18-year-old man has been charged by police after allegedly making a wild claim about the car he was driving at a McDonald’s outlet.

World's most beautiful McDonald's that's like '5-star hotel restaurant' reopens

An 18-year-old man may have made a super-sized mistake with comments allegedly made at a Gold Coast McDonald’s restaurant.

Police were called to the fast food giant’s outlet at Burleigh Heads at about 4.30am on Sunday after receiving multiple calls alleging the man had told people he was driving a stolen car.

When officers arrived they found him inside the vehicle, which was parked in the restaurant’s car park.

“We had some people in and around the McDonald’s restaurant who actually contacted police and said this person is driving around claiming to have been in a stolen car and as a result we’ve responded,” Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said.

“We covertly snuck up on the vehicle as it was in the car park of the restaurant where we apprehended the male.”

The incident took place at a McDonald’s restaurant in Burleigh Heads.

The 18-year-old Burleigh Heads man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and drink driving.

It’s not clear what he was doing at the restaurant, which currently has a promotion for a ‘McSmart Meal’ running.

“He’s allegedly driving through the McDonald’s restaurant and saying he’s in a stolen car.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed,” Acting Supt Knowles said.

The man is expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court on the 23rd of September.
