A teenager left in hospital with nasty injuries potentially faces further punishment by police after a Gold Coast e-scooter crash.
It’s alleged the 14-year-old failed to stop at a red traffic light at the intersection of 19th Ave and Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach about 2.15pm on Sunday.
Acting Superintendent Jason Tuffley alleged: “The e-scooter and rider have collided with a vehicle that was proceeding through the intersection on a green signal. This has caused the rider to go over the bonnet of the vehicle and end up on the roadway.”
The boy broke his leg and arm in the crash and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remained on Monday morning receiving treatment.
Acting Superintendent Tuffley said it was “possible” police may take further action against the teen under the Youth Justice Act or by way of issuing him with an infringement.
“Of note – this young boy is known to the police,” he said.
“He is recorded as committing other dangerous acts on an e-scooter previously.”
