A woman has been charged after allegedly hitting a 7-year-old child with an e-bike in Norlane and then fleeing the scene.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said the boy was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after the Princes Highway incident, which occurred just before 4.30pm on July 11.

Ms Newman said the 21-year-old woman was charged with failure to stop after an accident and for riding a bicycle on a footpath.

Police were told the rider allegedly fell off the bike before fleeing the scene.

The woman will appear before Geelong Magistrates’ Court later this year.
