A probe has been launched into a head-on smash near Barwon Heads that saw two women taken to Geelong Hospital on Thursday.
A 61-year-old driver of a black BMW had a lucky escape after the front of her car was completely crumpled following the collision, at the intersection of Blue Stone School Rd and Barwon Heads Rd in Connewarre.
Her vehicle collided with a white SUV about 7.40am.
The Torquay woman and the 38-year-old driver of the SUV, from Connewarre, both escaped without serious injury and were taken to hospital by paramedics.
The crash caused a small risk of fire with three CFA units attending.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the exact cause of the crash is still unknown.
