Three charged after allegedly stolen car are police chase across Geelong

Three people have been charged and will front court on Tuesday after allegedly leading police on a wild pursuit across the city in a stolen car.

Three people have been charged after allegedly leading police on a wild pursuit across the city.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers first spotted the allegedly stolen blue Ford Ranger driving erratically through Geelong West and Bell Park about 9:30am.

A police chopper then followed the vehicle to Enrob Court in Grovedale, where it was allegedly dumped in front of residential homes.

“All four occupants ran from the scene,” the police spokeswoman said.

“Two men and two women were arrested nearby.”

Residents on a local online community page reported seeing the 4WD speeding and driving erratically along the Geelong Ring Road.

“(I) had a blue … car pass me at ridiculous speeds on the Ring Road after Fyansford turn off,” one man said on social media.

“(They were) throwing stuff out the window and swerving in and out and flying up the emergency lane.”

“Saw a crazy blue 4WD driving like a maniac … near Waurn Ponds shopping centre,” one woman commented.

Police and detectives swarmed the area, with neighbours witnessing the 4WD being taken into evidence from the scene.

The spokeswoman said the three people who had been charged would front Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

A 23-year-old Armstrong Creek man was charged with driving in a dangerous manner, driving at a dangerous speed, reckless conduct endangering life, driving while disqualified and dangerous negligent driving while being pursued by police.

A 24-year-old Norlane man was charged with motor vehicle theft and committing

an indictable offence on bail.

A 30-year-old woman from Norlane was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, obtaining property by deception and committing an indictable offence on bail.

A 25-year-old woman from Bell Park was released pending further inquiries.
