A girl's body was found at a former power station in Anglesea on Friday.
Her body was found at the former Alcoa site, 22km south of Torquay on Friday.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the death of a female on Coal Mine Road in Anglesea on June 30,” a Victorian Police spokeswoman told the Geelong Advertiser on Saturday.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
Initial reports suggested the discovery was made at the former Alcoa operation at Point Henry, near Geelong, however the new details were confirmed by police on Saturday.
It’s believed the girl may have been as young as 16.
Alcoa ran a mine and power station in Anglesea for over four decades before it permanently closed in 2015.
Coalmine Road has been closed to the public for more than 10 years due to its proximity to the wall of the mine pit, with the Surf Coast Shire managing access to the road.
Alcoa’s former site in Geelong, which produced aluminium, closed in 2014 and is not currently in use.
It comes after a man died on Tuesday night after he was hit by a train in Charlemont.
