An alleged drug-driver accused of breaking a curfew to “test” her moped has been refused bail.

Sienna Dunscombe, 26, appeared in Geelong Magistrates Court on Wednesday, facing charges over an alleged late night jaunt on a motorcycle, which she described as a moped.

Magistrate John Lesser refused Ms Dunscombe bail, stating she presented an unacceptable risk to the safety of the community and herself.

Police prosecutor, Senior Constable Denise Frame, told the court that Ms Dunsombe was already on four counts of bail, which included conditions that she must not drive and a curfew between 9pm and 6am.

Constable Frame said Ms Dunsombe was seen driving a motorcycle along Torquay Rd at 12.10am on Wednesday, before turning left onto Reserve Rd.

She allegedly turned around upon seeing police and accelerated away, the court heard, leading police on a chase through Geelong’s south, along Marshalltown Rd and Station Rd.

During the pursuit, Ms Dunscombe allegedly failed to pull over,

She was detained in a reserve between Allegro Court and Station Rd, Constable Frame said.

The court heard two ziplock bags were found in a side pocket of her handbag during a search, one allegedly containing ice, the other two ecstasy pills.

Constable Frame alleged a clear plastic bottle containing GHB was found in Ms Dunscombe’s jacket pocket, while a search of the motorcycle revealed two drills in a compartment under the seat.

A drug test allegedly found the presence of ice and MDMA in Ms Dunscombe’s system, and a forensic medical officer deemed her unfit for interview.

The court heard the charges Ms Dunscombe was already on bail for included drug possession, possessing cartridge ammunition, dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, driving while disqualified and handling stolen goods.

Ms Dunscombe, who represented herself at the bail hearing, told the court she had a place to stay for at least 12 months until found employment, thanks to a “friend of a friend”.

She told the court she was paying rent and her income was through Centrelink.

The mother-of-two acknowledged drugs were an issue and told the court she had recently organised to attend drug-rehabilitation centre Windana as an outpatient.

Ms Dunscombe said she had been driving her own moped and she was “just testing it out”.

She denied she was unfit to be interviewed when Mr Lesser inquired about the police’s forensic medical officer’s finding telling the court: “No, I was fine”.

Lawyer Sarah Wood, who was representing Ms Dunscombe outside of the bail hearing, briefly spoke to confirm her client’s custody management requirements and the status of the other matters.

Ms Dunscombe was remanded into custody to face court again on May 8.
