After having to pull out of the finals of Miss Earth Australia last year, a Bannockburn animal technician has made a comeback to be named Miss Water Australia 2024.

Sarah Tute, who is aiming to help bring back the Tasmanian tiger through her work at Melbourne University, is passionate about conservation and the environment.

Miss Water is third runner-up of the national competition, which is one of the big four beauty pageants along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International.

It is about bringing awareness to issues around the world regarding environment and climate change.

Ms Tute said it was amazing and a huge relief after losing her swimwear last year and having to pull out of the competition.

“It showed how much my hard work over the last year had paid off,” she said.

Ms Tute travelled to Sydney for the competition earlier this month.

“It was such a good experience and we had such a good group of girls which made such a difference,” she said.

“There were quite a lot of photo shoots, we had to do some pre-pageant judging which was a closed door interview, environmental speech, talent round and a round where you don’t wear make-up and hair in ponytail so they can see your face properly.

“We also went to Bondi and did a beach clean-up.”

This was followed up with the grand coronation.

“I think this might be my last pageant because I am getting close to the age limit which is 27 and I am 26,” she said.

“However, I have already told the organisation if they want someone to help with organising and working behind the scenes I am 100 per cent there.”
