A Corio man has been charged after a group allegedly posed as police officers in Whittington on Monday.

A third man has been arrested after a group allegedly posed as police officers in Whittington on Monday.

It is alleged a group, including three men and a woman, told two men on Solar Dr they were police officers and searched them before taking their mobile phones and wallets.

Police said the group then fled the scene and went to an address on Orbit St about 9am where they allegedly told the occupants they were police before entering.

They allegedly ransacked the house and stole two cars, mobile phones and cash.

Police said a warrant was executed at a premises and a 47-year-old man from Corio was arrested by officers.

He’s been charged with robbery, false imprisonment, home invasion, impersonate police officer, theft of motor car and other offences.

He will appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Corio, were arrested in Norlane on Monday and later charged with a string of offences including robbery, false imprisonment, home invasion, impersonate police officer and theft of motor car.

They fronted the Geelong Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and were remanded.

The investigation remains ongoing.

A man and woman allegedly posed as police on two occasions while they ransacked a home and stole from two men during daring daytime heists.

Two men were at Solar Drive, Whittington about 8am Monday when a black Mazda loaded with a woman and three men approached.

A Victoria Police spokesman said some in the group told the men they were police and searched the pair before taking their mobile phones and wallets.

“They then fled the scene and attended an Orbit Street, (Whittington) residence about 9am where they allegedly told occupants they were police before entering,” the spokesman said.

“The group allegedly ransacked the premises and stole two cars, mobile phones and cash.”

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 27-year-old man from Corio and a 25-year-old woman from Corio in Norlane on Monday.

The police spokesman said: “Both have been charged with robbery, false imprisonment, home invasion, impersonate police office and theft of motor car and other offences.”

The pair were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The spokesman said all three cars were found by police and the investigation was ongoing.
