Residents asked for feedback as Lorne’s Point Grey draft revealed
Residents are being asked to give their feedback on the recently released draft framework for the controversial Point Grey development.

The organisation behind the controversial Point Grey development, labelled a “disaster” by residents, is asking locals for feedback.
The Draft Urban Design Framework (UDF) for the area around Lorne pier were released by the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) on Tuesday.
The plan proposed three new buildings, a casual food premise, a new Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club building, and new public toilets.
GORCAPA’s interim chief executive Christine Ferguson said the draft plan was built on “decades of community feedback, the latest technical studies, and collaboration with traditional owners and key agencies.”
“We’ve heard time and again how important it is that we reflect Point Grey’s fishing and timber history and celebrate its natural setting and Cultural heritage.”
“The Draft UDF proposes a thoughtful evolution of the area — one that protects its character and honours its rich history while making it safer, more welcoming, and accessible for all.
“We want to hear from everyone — whether you’ve lived in Lorne all your life or just love visiting.
“This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a place that means so much to so many.”
Other design features include improved pedestrian safety, vehicle circulation, accessible parking and a co-designed Educational Garden in partnership with the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation.
The project has drawn ire from locals in the past.
Friends of Point Grey member John Barker said, “locals are feeling quite betrayed … it’s a disaster,” earlier this month.
The redevelopment forms part of the multi-level government funded Geelong City Deal, worth $676 million.
GORCAPA is asking for local feedback to the plan.
The organisation will be hosting information sessions online and in person throughout June.
