Man in serious condition after stabbing in Whittington

A Good Samaritan has recalled confronting scenes after a stab victim “rocked up” at his front door screaming and “covered in blood” in Whittington. VIDEO.

A Whittington resident has told of confronting scenes after a stabbing victim showed up at his home covered in blood on Monday evening.

The Good Samaritan, who asked to remain anonymous, said the male victim “rocked up” at his doorstep on Irwin Court around 7.30pm.

“He said he had been stabbed and he was asking for help,” he said.

“He was covered in blood.

“I put a whole heap of towels on his wounds and called triple-0.”

The man said the victim had multiple stab wounds to his lower body, particular around his buttocks.

He then called police and paramedics, who rushed to the scene.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to the Geelong hospital in a serious condition.

He remained in a serious but stable condition Tuesday morning.

The resident described the scene as confronting and a bit of a shock.

“He was screaming halfway up my driveway,” he said.

“It wasn’t good.

“I’ve only just finished cleaning (the blood off) my front porch.”

On Tuesday morning, large spots of blood could be seen on the footpath on Solar Drive, near Whittington Primary School, which trailed into Irwin Court.

The scene is also near a childcare centre and children’s playground.

Another neighbour said there was a heavy police presence and officers remained at the scene until about 1am Tuesday.

“It was a real shock,” she said.

“It’s a very quiet, family-friendly court.”

Police are yet to determine how the man sustained his serious injuries and an investigation remains ongoing.
