Man dead after being struck by train in North Shore

A man died after being struck by a train at North Shore station Thursday night.
The deadly train incident caused major delays for Geelong commuters.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Station St about 7.30pm.
A total of 310 passengers were on-board at the time of the tragic incident, all remained stranded just meters from the platform.
The Waurn Ponds bound train left Southern Cross at 6.31pm, arriving just after 10pm into Geelong station after being cleared by police.
The disruptions continued, with coaches replacing trains on the Geelong line between Lara and Geelong, until 11pm.
A V/Line spokesperson said, “These kinds of incidents have a significant impact for all involved, we are offering support to the train driver, conductor and staff members that assisted following the incident and encourage impacted members of the public to seek information on support via the TrackSAFE website.”
The man’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
Victoria Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
