An investigation is underway into the cause of a house fire which took firefighters almost two hours to bring under control over the weekend.
Both Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and Country Fire Authority (CFA) crews were called to reports of the blaze at a Brearleys Lane, Charlemont property about 2.30pm on Saturday.
“Crews arrived on scene to find a double storey weatherboard house significantly impacted by fire,” a CFA spokesperson said.
“CFA and FRV crews wearing Breathing Apparatus (BA) worked together to extinguish the blaze, which impacted most of the house and adjoining shed.
“The fire was deemed safe at 4:20pm, with extinguishing and mopping up works to continue over the next few hours to ensure no further flare-ups.
“Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also on scene.”
FRV confirmed nobody was in the house at the time of the fire.
The CFA on Sunday confirmed an investigation into the cause of the fire was underway.
