Police investigating the discovery of a man’s body inside a Grovedale home are not treating his death as a homicide.
Officers were called to Riatta Ave about 11:30pm on Friday to perform a welfare check on a resident.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman told the Geelong Advertiser on Monday homicide squad detectives were still investigating, however “the death is being treated as non-suspicious.”
There was a high police visibility at the address on Saturday morning, with many residents left shocked by the incident.
The exact circumstances of his death remain unknown.
EARLIER: On Saturday morning, police had established a crime scene around the home with detectives at the property investigating and interviewing neighbours.
One neighbour said police had been called “multiple times” to the property in the past.
“It’s a rental property,” he said.
“A couple have lived there for a number of years.”
An elderly neighbour who lives down the road from the home said Riatta Ave was a quiet street where families and retirees lived.
