A woman and her two brothers assaulted her ex-boyfriend to convince him to move out, a court has heard.

Jakeb Forti, 26, who has been linked to Lara, appeared at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to plead guilty to one count of unlawful assault with a weapon.

His siblings Alana and Paul Forti pleaded guilty at an earlier date to similar assault charges for the same violent incident.

In May 2021, after Alana Forti and her former partner ended their relationship, the victim went to sleep in their shared bed.

While he slept, Alana Forti invited her two brothers over and the three came up with a plan to convince the victim to move out.

Paul Forti armed himself with a wood splitter handle without the head and Alana Forti handed Jakeb Forti a baseball bat.

Paul Forti filled up a dog bowl with water and the three entered the bedroom where he dumped the contents onto the victim.

Paul Forti then hit the victim to the left arm. Jakeb Forti used the bat to intimidate the victim but did not hit him.

However, the court heard Alana Forti threatened the victim by telling him Jakeb Forti could use the bat against him.

Alana Forti and the victim also tussled and she landed a punch to his left ear, causing some bleeding and bruising.

The brothers left the house when the victim agreed to move out.

Defence lawyer Thomas Edwards said Jakeb Forti attended the police station voluntarily to make admissions and was remorseful.

Given his lack of criminal history and because he did not use the weapon, Mr Edwards asked the court not to impose a conviction.

“There’s no need to impose a larger penalty for specific deterrence because he doesn’t need to be sent a message,” Mr Edwards said.

Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt accepted the behaviour to “be somewhat lesser in the scale of seriousness” but noted he still armed himself with the weapon and acted alongside his siblings.

“It could have (had) tragic results,” Mr Klestadt said.

“Someone uses a weapon or finds that they’re facing a weapon and all of a sudden we have a casualty, a death or serious injury. It arises quite often when people lose control of their emotions, or act irresponsibly, or don’t think about (their emotions) at all.”

Jakeb Forti was ordered to pay $300 into the court fund without conviction.

Alana Forti was fined $1000 without conviction and Paul Forti was fined $2000 without conviction.
