A former employee of a demolition company that owes $1.5m to the Australian Taxation Office said several ex workers who are owed superannuation want answers.

Axcess Demolition and Excavation owes a total of $1,528,427 to the Australian Taxation Office and Con Kokkinos of Worrells has been appointed liquidator.

The Moolap-based business was registered in 2005, according to Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents that list Chris Dimitrovski as its sole director.

The former employee, who did not wish to be named, said he had worked at Axcess Demolition and Excavations for several years and first realised he wasn’t being paid super about five years ago.

“I reported it to the ATO and from then on I’ve just been given the run-around,” he said.

“I’ve texted him (Mr Dimitrovski) and he responded that it’s his obligation and that he’s going to pay it, but nothing has ever really come of it.

“It’s not great – that’s my future one day. $20,000 is not a great deal, but over another 50 years, the interest on that is the money I’m missing out on.”

The former employee said he first realised he wasn’t being paid super when he accessed his super app.

“Once one employee realised they weren’t being paid the correct amount of super, it led to the other employees realising their super payments were falling behind.

“We would have meetings and try to talk to him (Mr Dimitrovski) about it, and he would just tell us it would be paid and not to worry.

“The former employees are not happy with him because he promised everybody they would get their money, but it’s pretty clear now that we’re not going to.”

The documents show that the company owes $369,710 in superannuation guarantee to the ATO.

Mr Dimitrovski did not respond to a request for comment when he was contacted by the Geelong Advertiser.

A Worrells spokeswoman said the investigation was in its preliminary stages.

A meeting of creditors will be held on September 30.

According to Axcess’ website, it specialised in all classes of demolition, bulk excavation, and site cuts.
