A car torched in Armstrong Creek on Friday is being investigated by police, while another vehicle has been captured by shocked onlookers catching fire outside a Newtown restaurant.
Four trucks from Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Authority were called to the blaze on Burvilles Rd in Armstrong Creek shortly before 1am Friday.
An FRV spokeswoman said crews arrived to find the car fully alight, with assistance coming from the Connewarre and Grovedale CFA brigades.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined but the matter is being treated as suspicious,” a police statement said.
The car was not stolen and no one was injured.
Meanwhile, customers at the Kardinia Cafe on the corner of Latrobe Tce and Saffron St have recorded a sedan catching fire in Newtown at about 11.05pm on Thursday.
The video shows flames licking from the bonnet before crews arrived to quickly extinguish it.
