Good Samaritans helped police nab a Bell Park man driving while allegedly more than five times the limit.

Good Samaritans helped police nab a disqualified driver from Bell Park who was behind the wheel while allegedly more than five times the legal alcohol limit.

Several motorists called triple-0 after seeing a vehicle allegedly weaving dangerously while travelling along the Princes Freeway shortly before 8pm Sunday.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said drivers tailed the man from Tullamarine, flashing their lights to try and signal the vehicle to pull over.

The driver parked his car on the side of the freeway at Laverton North, and a member of the public took the man’s keys from the ignition, she said.

“Williamstown police arrived and the 48-year-old male driver underwent a breath-test where he returned an alleged reading of .254,” the spokeswoman said.

She said the Bell Park man was found to be a disqualified driver and was expected to be with drink driving and other traffic offences.

“His Toyota Corolla was also impounded,” the spokeswoman said.

She said the impound was part of Operation Scoreboard which ran statewide from 12.01am Wednesday to 11.59pm Sunday.
