Barwon Health has been charged by the state’s workplace regulator over the death of a patient two years ago.
The patient took her own life in December 2022 while undergoing treatment at Barwon Health’s Swanston Centre, which is its acute psychiatric unit.
The organisation is facing two charges of failing to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, people other than employees were not exposed to health and safety risks, according to a statement issued by WorkSafe on Monday.
The matter is listed for a filing hearing at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
A Barwon Health spokesman was unable to comment as the matter is before the court.
