The Cats will be be without Henry (hamstring) and Lawson Humphries after he entered concussion protocols post-game following a further head injury assessment, having passed a concussion test during the game.

Dynamic forward Gryan Miers trained with the main group after missing the last two matches with concussion.

Miers also completed Geelong’s main session last Thursday with ease in a non-contact cap, and he will continue to be monitored ahead of a potential return against the Giants.

Young Mitch Knevitt has also missed the last two weeks with a plantar fascia injury and is listed as a test.

Five-time All-Australian Stewart had strapping around his knee and didn’t take part in drills at GMHBA Stadium, and football boss Andrew Mackie said the Cats will make a selection call later in the week.

“After experiencing knee soreness following the Round 7 game against Carlton, we took the cautious approach and decided to give Tom the week to rest and recover. We will continue monitor him and make a call on his availability closer to squad selection on Thursday,” Mackie said.

Scans confirmed that Rhys Stanley suffered a low-grade hamstring injury against Collingwood and is set to miss just 1-2 weeks after he was subbed out at quarter-time.

The 34-year-old completed light running off to the side at training.

Henry was away from the main group but made up some of the numbers for the ‘B’ side in a light match simulation drill.

Mackie said he is tipped to re-join main training next week.

“Jack is making good progress from the hamstring injury he sustained against Melbourne in Round 4. He is currently building up the running loads required for a return, and we expect to see him integrating back into training this week,” Mackie said.

In-form captain Patrick Dangerfield did not complete Tuesday’s session but the Cats often manage his training load.

In a positive sign of progress, injury-riddled trio Cam Guthrie (Achilles), Toby Conway (back) and Jack Martin (management) also took part in light match simulation.

After being listed as ‘TBC for some time given their uncertain timelines, Martin and Conway have re-joined the main group and are poised to return in three weeks.

“In exciting news for Cam and Jack, they have begun to integrate back into main training. They will continue to build up their training loads in the coming weeks with target to see both Cam and Jack return via the VFL in three weeks’ time,” Mackie said.

First-year forward Jacob Molier has recovered from a hamstring injury but will be given an extensive conditioning block as he prepares his body for senior football.
