Premiership defender Jack Henry has declared he has regained full confidence in his troublesome foot as he tries to put his injury-affected start to the season behind him.
The utility played his first game in Saturday’s loss against Fremantle, being deployed as a forward and booting three goals in his return from a foot fracture.
Henry said he was confident he would not be ruled out of the entire season with the nagging injury.
“It’s something I’m not really thinking about, you can’t really waste energy doing that I reckon,” he said.
“I can’t run around in fear of it really, but I feel good, I feel as strong in my foot as I have in a long time.
“I pretty much wanted to be conservative, I wanted to make sure I got it right and just had that in my mindset if anything just to make sure I got it right no matter how long it took.
“I was always pretty confident I’d be back.”
“I’ve come along pretty well and had a really good last month, probably better than expected, so that’s a positive as well.”
Henry’s first game back was also the first time his brother Ollie Henry had missed a game this season, with the new recruit suffering a ruptured testicle in the loss to Richmond in round 9.
Henry said his brother was in good spirits as he targets a round 12 return.
“Ollie, he’s good … I don’t really want to get into too much detail about my brother’s genitals,” he laughed.
“He’s in good spirits, he’s taking it really well, I couldn’t think of my choice (between foot fracture and ruptured testicle).
“I’m actually not too sure over his rehab program at the moment but he’s here (at training), he’s in good spirits and he’s going well.
“Definitely looking forward to it (playing together), but what can you do, it’s footy sometimes, you can’t win them all.
“I’m personally happy to be back and I’ve had to get myself right over however many weeks and Ollie would have been an added bonus, but I’m still happy just to get myself back to be honest.
“When we do get to play together it will be fun.”
