Fresh off a career-best performance, All Australian chance Gryan Miers has inked a three-year extension to stay in hoops.

Miers collected 32 disposals and 11 marks against North Melbourne in round 17, just one week after a 27-disposal, two goal performance against the Swans in round 16, and will remain in Geelong until at least the end of 2026.

Geelong head of list management Andrew Mackie said the club was thrilled to have Miers commit to the club off the back of his best season to date.

“Gryan is part of a very exciting, hard-working and talented group of young players coming through our AFL program,” Mackie said.

“Gryan has proven to be a very important player in our attacking half of the ground, he is a selfless footballer and a player who creates plenty of scoring opportunities.

“We are very pleased that he will be with us for at least the next three years.”

Miers was plucked out of the Geelong Falcons factory in the 2017 national draft with the 57th selection.

A small forward, Miers was an impressive junior, plying his trade at Grovedale, and debuted for Geelong in 2019, playing every game including the finals campaign, where the Cats lost to Richmond in the preliminary final.

He went on to play 53 consecutive games from his debut, with fibula fractures interrupting his impressive streak in 2021.

Miers was an important member of Geelong’s 2022 premiership side, booting 13 goals and setting up 19 across the course of the season, and collected 18 disposals in the grand final.

He is set to play in his 100th game against Essendon on Saturday night, fresh off the back of a career-best 32 touches against North Melbourne in round 17.
