Gable Tostee has spoken out after a “bizarre” misunderstanding that involved police on New Year’s Eve.
Tostee, who also goes by the name Eric Thomas, fell asleep at a woman’s house on 31 December 2019 before he was woken up by police.
A triple-0 call was made in the middle of the night from his Tinder date’s home in Logan, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
“She said something along the lines of ‘I’ve done some research and you’ve got me off edge’ or something along those lines,” Tostee told Nine News.
“I found it bizarre that she called the cops because she never indicated at any point in time she didn’t want me to be there or anything like that.”
“The police themselves, they said, you’re not in trouble, you haven’t comitted anything and that’s been confirmed by them in multiple reports.”
Police confirmed “no disturbance or offences were committed.”
“Police were called to a Lowthers Street residence in Yarrabilba on December 31 at 4.15am in relation to a man being intoxicated and making a woman feel uncomfortable,” a police spokesman said in a statement to news.com.au today.
The 33-year-old was found not guilty in 2016 of the murder or manslaughter of his Tinder date, New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright.
The 26-year-old woman fell to her death from his 14th-floor Gold Coast apartment in 2014.

Tostee told the Courier Mail the latest situation, involving a 28-year-old woman, was a “bizarre” misunderstanding.
“I was literally woken up when the police walked in and she said to me something like: ‘I’ve done some reading on you and you’ve got me on edge’,” he said.
Tostee said this kind of thing “has never happened before”.
Police confirmed Tostee was “located asleep” inside the property and was taken by officers 20 kilometres away to Beenleigh Police Station where he was collected by a family member.
Tostee’s presence on the mobile dating application has persisted over the years and he reported a Facebook group to the police last year after screenshots of his Tinder profile were shared online.
He claimed to be a victim of a harassment and hate speech campaign.
“As an innocent person who has already been through more than enough hell I should not have to put up with further vilification,” Tostee wrote at the time.
