A FORMER Goyder MLA has thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming election, saying he would bring back “stability and respect” to the electorate.
Ted Warren, the former single-term Labor MLA for Goyder from 2005 to 2008, will stand as an independent in his old electorate in August.
This brings the number of candidates in Goyder, represented by embattled independent Kezia Purick, to five.

Mr Warren, a geotechnical engineer by trade, said if elected he would “bring back stability and respect to Goyder and the strong, independent representation that rural residents deserve”.
“I would also bring significant business and community skills to the role and a first-hand knowledge of government processes and how to get things done for Goyder,” he said.
“I will represent Goyder as an independent who is not shackled to political party self-interests and their reliance on lobby group donations.”
