FORMER Cattlemen’s Association boss Tracey Hayes has officially been voted by a branch of the Country Liberal Party to run against Chief Minister Michael Gunner in the seat of Fannie Bay.

The decision was made at a meeting on Monday night but still has to be confirmed and endorsed by the Central Council on February 8.

Darwin lawyer Rose Watts, who put her hand up last year to take the CLP Senate spot won by Sam McMahon, was chosen to run in the seat of Port Darwin against Minister Paul Kirby.

Hopes of former deputy chief minister Dave Tollner running for the CLP appear to have been dashed with former Alice Springs deputy mayor Kylie Bonanni the preferred candidate in Fong Lim.

Former Labor MLA-now-independent Jeff Collins currently holds Fong Lim.

In her work profile, Ms Watts is described as “an experienced commercial lawyer with in-depth experience in construction, property, finance and government.”

“Rose provides advice and runs complex transactions on a wide range of matters, including commercial property, construction, project finance, syndicate finance, procurement and government projects.”

Bonanni resigned from the Alice Springs council in 2015 because of family commitments.

She won a by-election to win a spot on council in 2013.
