A spokeswoman from St John Ambulance said one paramedic attended to support the firefighters, but there were no occupants inside the house.

Neighbour Andrew Hardy said he was relieved when he found out no-one was inside the house.

“I got here and there was smoke billowing from the windows and I could see the firemen working outside and through the house putting it out,” he said.

“What we were really concerned about was that there was somebody still inside because that’s a horrible feeling.”

Police are appealing for witnesses while anyone with information is urged to contact Police.
