The access road and the tracks around Castle Hill will close for a short period on Sunday as the council completes standard hazard burns of the area.

The closure will happen from 6am on Sunday and would reopen by 2pm, although this depended on weather conditions.

The council and the Queensland Fire Department will complete their second and last annual burn for Castle Hill which will cover 31 hectares between Goat Track and Maiden Hair track, the southern side of Wills St, Scully St, Wilson Court, and Church St.

Mayor Troy Thompson recognised it would affect early morning hill walkers but he encouraged them to find a different track for the day, such as Cape Pallarenda or Mount Louisa walking track.

Residents with medical conditions that may be affected by smoke are encouraged to take precautions.
