A Filipino drag queen, famous for her impersonation of Taylor Swift, is coming to Darwin with a view to providing local Swifties a party to remember.
On October 28, global TikTok sensation Taylor Sheesh will bring her show, The Errors Tour, to the Darwin Entertainment Centre, specifically targeting Territorians who did not get a chance to catch the real Taylor Swift in action during her Australian tour earlier this year.
Accustomed to massive crowds in the cities of Vietnam and Thailand, Sheesh said she was looking forward to performing in Darwin.
“I’m very much excited because for example in the Philippines, the crowds are usually bigger in the provincial areas than in Manila,” she said.
“Because in Manila, seeing celebrities or personalities is quite common, so whenever I’m performing in the more rural areas, it just feels more special.”
Sheesh revealed she was unaware the Top End had a strong Filipino community.
“That’s surprising but also reassuring - seeing Pinoys in a different country feels like I’m right at home,” she said.
“Honestly, before I was invited to perform in Darwin, I didn’t know about the place and now I’m really excited to be there.”
Sheesh’s passion for Taylor Swift music dates back to 2009, with the performer’s talent recognised by chance at a Swiftie event.
“I was in a mall in the Philippines and me and my friends came - I was in Taylor Swift drag,” she said.
“The organiser noticed me and asked me if I could do a performance right then and there (so) I did, and that’s how Taylor Sheesh was born.”
Having featured in the Rolling Stones and Good Morning America, Darwin Entertainment Centre chief executive Georgia Hendy said the arrival of Sheesh was a “coup” for the Territory.
“We couldn’t resist bringing her here after her hugely successful Melbourne Federation Square performance which saw over 1000 fans dancing away to Taylor Sheesh as the real Taylor Swift performed just kilometres away,” she said.
“This night is for fans of Taylor Swift and those about to be fans of Sheesh - it’s family friendly, so bring your tweens and teens, your besties, and get ready to party.”
Taylor Sheesh’s The Errors Tour takes place on Monday, October 28 at Darwin Entertainment Centre.
