ESSINGTON principal David Cannon has announced that he will be leaving the school for a lengthy break amid reports of an internal conflict with members on the school board.
It is understood the 20-year veteran principal announced he will be taking long service leave following a school board meeting held this week.
In a letter sent out to parents today, board chair Nathan Reichstein confirmed the news.
“The Board of the Essington International School Darwin has endorsed principal/CEO David Cannon taking long services leave commencing from the end of the school term, December 21 2018, until April 12, 2019, and is making arrangements for the leadership of the school during this period,” he said.
“David has worked tirelessly for over 20 years growing and positioning the Essington School to where it is today, providing high quality internationally recognised education in Darwin, and he is most deserving of a well-earned break.”
