Properties under threat as bushfire blazes in Livingstone, in Darwin’s rural area

ABOUT eight properties are under threat in the Livingstone area as a bushfire rips through the area.

Three aircraft, four helicopters and 20 volunteer crews and Bushfires NT fireys are working together to contain the blaze on Perentie Rd.

Authorities are closing Old Bynoe Rd at the corner of Old Bynoe Rd and the Stuart Hwy to restrict access to the bushfire zone.

No one has been evacuated.

Bushfires NT incident controller Josh Fischer said the crew were working under tough conditions to contain the fire and stop spot fires from starting up.

“People at home were asking to assist crews help put out fires if they are able to,” he said.

He said those at home in the area of the fire are asked to turn on their sprinklers and take other measures to help out.
