Man hospitalised after finger partially amputated while hooking up boat trailer to his vehicle

A man has been hospitalised after his thumb was amputated while he was hooking up a boat trailer to his vehicle in Darwin.

A MAN has undergone surgery after he lost part of his hand when he was hooking up a boat trailer to his car in Berrimah in Darwin on Thursday.

St John Ambulance Operations Manager John Garraway told ABC Darwin radio a 22-year-old man was connecting a boat trailer to the back of his car when part of his thumb was amputated.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and underwent surgery.
