A BUSHFIRE is burning in the Darwin River/ Rum Jungle area, as authorities warn people to keep away.
In an advice-level alert issued about 4.15pm, Bushfires NT stated a fire had started in the Darwin River Dam Catchment Complex and the situation was being monitored for changes.
“(The) fire... is spreading on one or more fronts,” the alert read.
“Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.”
Bushfires NT warned any drivers passing through the area to slow down, turn on their headlights and drive to conditions, stating that smoke from the fire may affect visibility.
