Darwin: grass, scrub fire reported in city

Emergency service vehicles were still arriving on-scene almost 20 minutes after the blaze was reported.

A fire has erupted in vicinity of Darwin city.

Shortly after 6.30pm, a fire was reported to have started near Ryko Court, with thick smoke covering the area.

The fire has been designated as a “grass and scrub fire”, according to the NT Fire Incident Map.

As of 6.50pm, smoke continued to affect visibility in the area with multiple emergency service vehicles continuing to arrive on the scene.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.

Emergency services have been contacted for comment.
