The City of Darwin is searching for the ideal tenant for a city community centre.

Expressions of Interest are this week being welcomed for a lead tenant at the Lyons Community Centre.

The purpose-built space on Damabila Drive within Garamanak Park has been specifically designed to support, connect and promote community and wellbeing in Darwin’s Northern suburbs.

The City of Darwin is looking for someone who can help the facility achieve this.

Included in the building is a 150m² hall space with lockable storage, a fully equipped kitchen, meeting and office spaces and accessible amenities.

The large meeting room is airconditioned and can accommodate 100 people comfortably according to the City of Darwin website.

On the grounds is also a secure and shaded playground and off-street parking.

The building’s classification, Class 9b, allowed for gatherings for social, educational, recreational, political, religious or civic purposes. A no alcohol policy applies.

A lead tenant is being sought for the centre who can help activate the facility’s potential and manage it in a way that encourages diverse community use and engagement as well as providing opportunities for local groups and organisations.

It is hoped any use would also contribute to the safety and “activation” of Garamanak Park through day and evening activity.

Expressions of Interest can be lodged through the City of Darwin Tender Portal.

The closing date for submissions is November 21, 2025, at 2pm.
