Basketball fever is rising, with the government adding hundreds of extra seats for The Original Harlem Globetrotters’ Darwin tour.
In response to the overwhelming demand to witness The Globetrotters, the Territory government confirmed 200 additional seats had been added for the two games set for June.
The announcement impressed LK Entertainment general manager Sean Gottliebsen, who said the Globetrotters were “overwhelmed” by the Top End’s enthusiasm.
“We are overwhelmed with the amount of interest that has been expressed from the community of Darwin in the Harlem Globetrotters,” he said.
“We are thrilled to announce that due to the support of the Northern Territory people, in what is shaping up to be our most unforgettable tour yet, we’re releasing additional tickets for each of the Darwin shows.
“We expect these to sell quickly so please get online and secure yours today to avoid disappointment.”
Major Events Minister Brent Potter said the government “doesn’t want anyone to miss out” on the famous group.
“Territorians deserve access to internationally acclaimed events, as such it is fantastic more seats have been added to each show to allow as many people as possible to enjoy a show which won’t disappoint,” he said.
“The Globetrotters, who began in 1926, offer a spectacle of skill, humour, and jaw-dropping moves that will leave audiences shouting for more, make sure to jump on these new tickets quickly because they won’t last long.”
The round of tickets will go on sale 9.20am on March 21, with the games set to take place at 7pm on June 24-25.
