Town abuzz about scandal
WELL, well, well. The town is absolutely abuzz about a Territory political party member who has been implicated in a cocaine sex scandal. The hullabaloo is understood to have happened on election night. Various investigations from parts of the media, including the NT News, and other institutions are underway and it’s only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose. Let’s just say the first sittings of Parliament for 2021 — which start on Tuesday — could be very interesting indeed. Jeff rides off into sunset
FORMER Labor-turned-Territory Alliance MLA Jeff Collins has left the Northern Territory. The same Mr Farmer who was hit with a $750 fine just after the election last year after pleading guilty to driving after drinking “eight or nine beers”.
Pooch wants voice heard
AWKWARDNESS ensued at an Alice Springs Town Council meeting this week when Cr Glen Auricht’s dog started whining in the background of the video link during a silent moment between council matters. Cr Auricht looked slightly abashed and subsequently slipped out of view to attend to the matter. But hey, at least he wasn’t wearing an animal filter.
Times have changed
THE ABC had a table of 30 booked at The Cav Hotel for 1pm on Friday. By 3pm they were still empty. Old school journos would be mortified at the waste.
‘Don’t forget your laptop’
SUNDAY Territorian editor Phillippa Butt was one of many NT residents caught up in the Victorian COVID-19 lockdown and declared hot spot. Bushie reckons the term “don’t forget your laptop” will soon become the phrase of 2021.
