What started as a joke for Daisy Lamb has turned into true love, capturing the heart of one of the Farmer Wants a Wife bachelors, Farmer Todd.
Born and raised in Wentworth on the NSW and Victoria border, Ms Lamb relocated to Townsville five years ago and became well known in the health and fitness industry.
Ms Lamb opened Air Locker in Townsville in November 2023, a gym that mixes altitude training and workouts, and at the time told the Townsville Bulletin was excited to bring the fitness concept to the city.
Her reasoning for signing up for the romance reality show was a passing joke between Ms Lamb and her friend late last year.
“I was over at my best friend Chelsea’s place and an ad came on TV looking for girls to apply,” she said.
“We looked at each other and though ‘stuff it, let’s sign up’, but unbeknown to me she didn’t actually apply, but I did.”
Ms Lamb said she got the call up to enter the show for late arrival Farmer Todd, who lives in Baan Baa, northeast of Tamworth.
“I didn’t get the call to come on until late October, which was weird because I opened my gym on November 11 and then had to fly out for filming on November 12 so it was a very chaotic time,” she said.
She said first entering into the show and the filming process was exciting, but things “turned sour” after drama unfolded towards the end of filming.
“There was this whole big thing about a cuddle Todd and I had,” she said.
“People are running us down on social media saying of course Todd chose me because I snuck into his room for a cuddle. I gave him a hug and was in there for two minutes. When I came out the girls were in the kitchen and the drama that unfolded that evening was disappointing because I had spoken to the girls about it off camera.”
Ms Lamb said her intentions were to get to know Todd.
“In a situation like that you try and get as much time with your farmer as possible,” she said.
After a dramatic finale episode in which Farmer Todd chose Ms Lamb over fellow contestant Grace, she said she “can’t reveal too much at the moment” about where she was living but all the details would be revealed in the Farmer Wants A Wife reunion. It is set to air on May 26.
“Todd and I are very happy, we are going strong,” she said.
“Life is good, it’s really nice even throughout the poorly edited season. We have been able to stay true to who we are.”
Ms Lamb called out what she said was ‘poor editing’ and said a lot was left out in her and Todd’s journey.
“It’s really awful that production went down the way they did, because they haven’t portrayed my character as anyone who knows me would be able to come to my aid,” she said.
“Not just myself, but Todd has also been portrayed in a poor light.”
“I haven’t been quiet in my disgust and distaste at the editing. Even though watching it back hasn’t been a great experience, the experience as a whole was a lot of fun. People who know me in Townsville know that the editing is absolute trash.”
Ms Lamb said that although parts of Townsville were shown when her and Todd visited for her hometown stay, she was disappointed that more wasn’t shown.
“When we first got to Townsville I took Todd to the gym and some footage of that was shown. After that we went to Bushland Beach Tavern to meet my family and friends,” she said.
“For our final date we went to Palmetum and had a beautiful set up with a candlelit dinner and a violinist and none of that got shown. I think the producers missed the mark on that. I think out of all the hometown visits, mine was cut the shortest.”
“We had a lot of fun and it was great to be back in Townsville after filming at the farm.”
Saying she was portrayed as a ‘gym junkie, city-slicker’ Ms Lamb said she was a good fit for the show due to her rural upbringing.
“I grew up on a farm and rode horses and competed for 20 years,” she said.
“None of that was shown about me on the show. It was really confident coming into filming coming from a rural background.”
Overwhelmed by the support she has received from Townsville, Ms Lamb said she was “so grateful for the community and for the support.”
