‘Extraordinary’: Man fights off crocodile with frying pan

A man attacked by a croc during an egg-collecting mission has been transferred to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.

An RNSH spokeswoman said he remained in a serious but stable condition.

The 29-year-old man was savaged by the predator while working on a remote station near Daly River on Thursday.

A private helicopter flew the man, who suffered serious injuries to his leg, out of the area to a waiting St John Ambulance.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by road.

NT Police on Thursday initially said the man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

However, a spokesman for NT Health on Friday said the man’s condition was listed as critical.

WorkSafe has carriage of the investigation into the incident.

The incident comes less than 12 months after Outback Wrangler co-star Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson died in a helicopter crash during a crocodile egg collecting mission in West Arnhem.

And a 22-year-old man was bitten by a crocodile in March 2022, while spearfishing in Nhulunbuy.

The incident also comes after a 3.6m crocodile was pulled from Litchfield National Park last week.
