WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
■ NT Police go to the home of Yuendumu man Kumanjayi Walker on Saturday evening after he allegedly breached conditions of his suspended sentence. Officers went to the property to arrest him.
■ Kumanjayi Walker was wanted by Police for a number of matters. The breach of parole is believed to be in relation to a number of break-ins within Yuendumu.
■ During the officers attempts to arrest him, a struggled developed. Police allege Kumanjayi Walker was armed but wouldn’t clarify with what.
■ One of the officers suffered a shoulder injury, believed to be a stab wound during the struggle
■ Kumanjayi Walker, 19, was shot in the bedroom of his Yuendumu home at around 7pm on Saturday.
■ Kumanjayi Walker was taken from the home to the Yuendumu police station where he was in a critical condition.
■ Officers performed CPR and first aid but could not save his life.
■ Kumanjayi Walker’s body was taken to Alice Springs this morning
■ NT Police are investigating if the Health Clinic was broken into
■ Medical staff made the decision to leave Yuendumu after a spate of break-ins
