DRUG detection dog Yeti has helped police seize a trafficable quantity of the narcotic substance kava, following a vehicle apprehension on the Central Arnhem Hwy.

Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said about 2.5k of the drug was seized on the highway near Lake Evella around 2pm on Thursday.

“The vehicle was stopped near the Lake Evella turn off at around 2.00pm (Thursday),” she said.

“Drug Detection dog Yeti was deployed and provided a conditioned response to three female passengers in the vehicle.”

Multiple sandwich bags containing Kava were located on the passengers.

“The front seat passenger was found to be in possession of a container of kava, mixed as a drink,” Snr sgt Tennosaar said.
