A PALMERSTON woman who stole dildos and other sex toys from Sexyland at Palmerston to trade for meth is due to find out Tuesday whether she will serve time behind bars.
Melissa Jane Clancy, pleaded guilty in Darwin Local Court last week to a string of charges spanning from October 2017 to March 2019, including stealing, breach of bail, assaulting police, offensive behaviour in a dwelling house and disorderly behaviour at police station.
The court heard Clancy twice stole sex toys from Sexyland at Palmerston, including a “50 shades” vibrator and three c**k rings.
Clancy also stole dozens of bottles of perfume, a knife set, and grog from stores in Palmerston, Coolalinga and Darwin.

Clancy’s lawyer, Marty Aust, said his client’s offending boiled down to “stealing sex toys, stealing perfume, or stealing any number of items that are readily exchangeable for small amounts of ice”.
Mr Aust said Clancy “hasn’t got a work history of any note” but was a loving mother to four kids.
“She does pride herself … at least in her heart of hearts … she feels as though she has tried to put the children’s interests first,” Mr Aust said.
“She’s embarrassed by the nature of the offending.
“The type of items that she stole and the MO means that on many occasions shopkeepers would see her come into their store and tell her to leave.”
Prosecutor Jane Bochmann said Clancy spitting in the eye of Senior Constable Christopher Bibby was “quite a different story” than her stealing.

Mr Aust said Clancy’s cousin had “brought a bottle of rum (to a family gathering) which is probably never a good addition to any sort of occasion”.
Mr Aust said his client was “not a break and enter artist or anything like that”.
The total amount of goods Clancy shoplifted was $3166.
Clancy has served 84 days behind bars on remand.
