Police called in as violence erupts in remote NT town

THREE people have been injured after violence erupted in the remote outback town of Peppimenarti on Tuesday.

An NT Police spokeswoman said police had received a report of 20 people fighting outside the town’s clinic at about 4.30pm including men and women.

The spokeswoman said six of those people were reportedly “actively involved” in the melee, including one man armed with a baseball bat and three people were treated for minor injuries.

“Two members from Daly River and two members from Wadeye were called out to respond,” she said.

“Two officers remained in the community to conduct patrols.”
