A 20-YEAR-OLD driver has been charged over the death of a 24-year-old man on New Year’s Day.
The 24-year-old was thrown from the car and died as a result of his injuries when the car crashed on Ngukurr’s main street.
MAN dies after first NT fatal crash of the year
Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives charged the young man with drive a car causing death, hit and run driving causing death, drive without due care, drive unlicensed, drive an unregistered and uninsured car.
He has been remanded in custody until January 6.

The 24-year-old victim was the first person to die on Territory roads in 2020.
Last year, 35 people were killed in road crashes in the NT.
