A MAN has blown almost five times the legal limit over night after Police responded to reports of a drink driver in remote NT.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Len Turner said the man was reported to Police for driving erratically, after which he was breath tested.

“In Nhulunbuy, Police responded to a call for a person driving drunk,” he said.

“They located that vehicle and a subsequent test resulted in his arrest.”

Cmdr Turner said it was back at the station when Police learned how much the driver had drunk.

“He then returned to the Police station where he blew 0.228 per cent which is fairly high,” he said.

“He’s been charged and he will be in court at a later date.”
